DOORS OPEN 2015
54 West Gate RALPH CONNOR HOUSE
Sunday, May 31 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
This fabulous mansion was built during Winnipeg's heyday. Located on the Assiniboine River in gracious Armstrong's Point, it was home to Reverend Charles Gordon (pen name Ralph Connor), his wife Helen, and their seven children. After Gordon's death in 1937, the University Women's Club of Winnipeg saved the house from demolition. The Club and Friends of the Ralph Connor House continue to maintain the 11,000 square-foot Jacobethan-style mansion. Tours start at the south entrance and last 30 minutes. Groups of 10-12 will admitted at 10 minute intervals. The final tour will take place at 4:30.
We are happy to once again share our beautiful home with the general public during Heritage Winnipeg's annual Doors Open. All over Winnipeg doors will be opened in heritage buildings for exploration and appreciation of our wonderful array of architecture and history. Check out Doors Open website for more details.
